Why rent out your motorhome or caravan?
A motorhome or caravan is often parked for most of the year, while insurance, maintenance and depreciation keep running. Renting it out in the periods you don't use it yourself lets the vehicle help pay for itself.
- Growing demand: More and more people prefer to rent rather than own, or want to try life on the road before buying a motorhome or caravan of their own. Some rent for a long weekend, others for several weeks.
- Extra income: Instead of standing idle, your vehicle earns money when you don't need it.
- Free listing: Creating a listing on Campr costs nothing, so you can test demand without risk.

How much can you earn renting out a motorhome?
Your income depends on the vehicle, where it is based, the price you set and how many weeks you open for rentals. In 2024, the ten highest-earning hosts on Campr had an average rental turnover of NOK 94,000. That shows what is possible with an attractive vehicle that is available in peak season, but most hosts will earn less.
Listing your vehicle is free. As a host, you pay a fee of 15% only when you get a booking.
When setting your price, look at what similar vehicles in your area cost. Many renters look for cheaper options outside peak season, so a slightly lower price in spring and autumn can bring more bookings overall.

How to get started as a host
- Create a profile: Sign up on Campr and complete a profile that makes a good first impression. A photo and a few words about yourself build trust.
- Take good photos: Bright, sharp photos of the interior and exterior matter most. Show off details such as the kitchen and the beds.
- Write a detailed listing: Describe the vehicle carefully, including facilities, number of beds and any rules for the rental.
- Plan your availability: Block your own holiday in the calendar first, then open the rest of the year for rentals.
- Publish and reply fast: Once your listing is live, requests start coming in. Quick, friendly replies lead to more bookings.

How do you get more bookings?
- Keep the vehicle well maintained: Regular maintenance prevents costly repairs and gives renters a good experience.
- Offer useful equipment: Camping chairs, a table and kitchen gear make your vehicle more attractive and can be an extra source of income as add-on services.
- Write a thorough description: Include specifications, facilities and what makes your motorhome stand out.
- Be flexible on rental length: Weekend and weekly rentals attract different renters and can fill gaps in your calendar.
- Ask for feedback: Use renters' comments to improve. Good reviews increase interest in your listing.
- Open up outside peak season: Many people want to travel in spring and autumn, especially if the price is a little lower.

What does Campr cover if there is damage?
As an owner on Campr, you are covered by Campr's compensation scheme. It covers, among other things:
- Minor and moderate damage (up to NOK 20,000): Campr settles documented damage directly with you. No need to file a claim on your own comprehensive insurance.
- Major damage (over NOK 20,000): Your comprehensive insurance is used. Once the claim is settled, Campr covers your deductible up to NOK 10,000 and pays you 15% of the approved damage assessment, max NOK 20,000 per claim.
- Lost rental income: If a renter damages your vehicle and you have to cancel later confirmed bookings while it is being repaired, you get 50% of the income from those bookings. Max NOK 20,000 for motorhomes and NOK 8,000 for caravans per claim.
Remember: Damage must be documented and reported to Campr during the check-out in the app. If damage is not reported during the check-out, you risk not being compensated, and your claim may be rejected.
